Faces of Homelessness: An Educational Community Event
The Milford Homeless Outreach Group will be hosting an educational community event called Faces of Homelessness on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Ave. Milford, from 6:30-8:30pm.
All are welcome to attend the event to learn about the causes and possible solutions to homelessness in Milford and ways to get involved. The event includes speakers, a panel discussion, a question and answer segment, plus personal stories of those who've experienced homelessness.
According to Jennifer Paradis, Executive Director of the Beth-El Center shelter and soup kitchen, "The barriers and solutions for those men, women, veterans and families experiencing homelessness in our community are diverse, complex and ever-changing. This event is a wonderful opportunity to open a community dialogue, find common understanding and explore new ways to take on these critical needs as a community."
Milford Homeless Outreach Group is Milford's homeless task force, who is focused on leveraging the skills and resources of all of its partners to wrap supports and intervention tools around each unsheltered individual in the community, one-by-one. Through coordinated Outreach & Engagement efforts, jail diversion, medical intervention for high emergency room utilizers and flexible dollars to support diversion techniques, the Group meets monthly to critically develop and implement public education campaigns and to close the gaps on how our systems speak to one another.
The event is open to the public and sponsored by the Beth-El Center, Milford Health Department and the Milford Public Library.
